We are collaborative, evolving, dedicated and caring. Our values serve as our compass, guiding the choices we make and helping us prioritize. They are closely connected to our long-term purpose: We move people further. Values only matter if they show up in practice, not just on an office wall. So we asked a few colleagues what collaborative, evolving, dedicated and caring actually look like in their day-to-day experience.

SKF is my first job, and twelve years in, the company I joined has become a different one. Since we turned into SKF Vertevo, things move faster. If you have a reasonable plan, you can get support and put it into action quickly. This year we reworked one of our production processes and cut the changeover time by eight percent. What made it possible was not a new method but a way of working: people trusted each other, communicated openly, and took responsibility for the outcome together. That is how we work. When something goes wrong, the question is how do we solve this, not whose fault it is.

I did my doctoral research on bearing steel while working here, using a tailored surface engineering approach, and there was no established path to follow. I had to combine knowledge from different disciplines, design my own experiments, and adapt the method as I learned. Many of my early assumptions turned out to be incomplete. What I found is that innovation comes from asking better questions, not from having the answer ready. Talking things through with colleagues and specialists opened up perspectives I would not have reached on my own.

The dedication of people at SKF Vertevo is something I see almost every day. In my role, we often work with tight customer timelines, technical challenges and unexpected issues during new product development. What stands out to me is how people from different functions come together, stay focused on the problem and work through it until we find a way forward. I see dedication in those everyday moments – when colleagues take ownership beyond their individual responsibilities because we have made a commitment as a team. That consistency is what makes focus and dedication a very real part of the culture for me.

The people here care about the work, and they also care about each other and support each other. We could feel and see that very clearly in the early days of the war in Ukraine. Colleagues around the world supported our colleagues and their families in Lutsk, donating money and working hours so that it was possible to buy emergency generators to have electricity at home, collecting goods and sending packages, and gathering sweets and toys for Christmas. And even in a fast, high pressure automotive environment, the health and safety of our people came first. Yet, I am also proud that we still managed continuous delivery of parts. The outstanding commitment of our colleagues at the Lutsk factory, who returned to work shortly after the war began, says a great deal about our spirit.
